March 2019 Member Spotlight – Kayla & John
How your Crossfit Journey started?
Kayla: I bought a groupon back in 2014 for a Crossfit near my house and have been hooked ever since.
John: After my car accident I wanted to find a way to get my body back into shape. After coming out of the hospital weighing 130lbs I wanted to find a healthier lifestyle.
How has Crossfit impacted your life?
Kayla: Made a great group of friends who I love to workout with and also met my boyfriend through Crossfit.
John: It made me a better person physically and mentally.
Describe any future or past Challenges you have done or are training for. ie – 5k, sparten race, new job, Crossfit competition etc.
Kayla: I have done a spartan sprint, super and a beast. After the open John and I are competing in a 4 person team competition in Farmingdale this April.
John:I competed at flex on the beach in Long Beach 3 times and finished in 2nd place last year.
Describe some personal goals you would like to achieve at the gym.
Kayla: 200 lb squat clean.
John: Sub 2 min Fran
Describe some personal goals you would like to achieve in your personal life.
Kayla: Own a home
John: Own a home
What are you favorite movements or WODs?
Kayla: DU’s and ring muscle ups
John: HSPU and snatches
What’s your motivation to keep going?
Kayla: Crossfit is something that you can continue to improve upon and the one thing I’ve found that I’ve yet to get bored of.
John: To make sure my girlfriend never beats me in WODs
